Summer update and some life news!

It’s been a while, so here’s a little summer update and some life news.

The past few months have flown by. First, I completed my probation period at work, and thankfully my job continued after that.

My hand is much better than it was during the first couple of months after surgery, but it’s still nowhere near what it used to be. In about a month, it’ll be a year since the accident. I honestly don’t think I’d be able to tattoo full-time anymore with this hand.

One of the everyday issues I constantly run into is something as simple as unlocking my front door. I can’t just turn the key normally with one motion anymore—I have to twist myself into this weird half-limbo position just to get enough leverage. Another problem is that doing regular push-ups is completely impossible. And when it’s cold outside, my hand aches. If I really wanted to dwell on it, I could easily list at least ten different ways the injury still affects me every single day. But thankfully, I have a proper job now, and I’m genuinely happy and grateful for that.

My wonderful daughter, Meeri, turned eight years old. Because of the new law, she can no longer ride her Onewheel, but she’s more than happy riding her brand-new bike—often with one hand and standing on the pedals.

And as I’m writing this, I’m on the first real summer vacation of my life! Two weeks and two days has been a pretty nice, gentle introduction to what I hope will eventually become a future with longer holidays. I still have two days left before going back to work.

Hopefully we’ll get away somewhere warm this winter, even if it’s just for a little while.

During my vacation I’ve been relaxing, riding my Onewheel, making art in the garage, cycling with my little one, and we also spent a day at the Linnanmäki amusement park.

Life could definitely be a lot worse!
